Pakistan IT Minister Announces 5G Technology Launch Date in Pakistan


Caretaker Minister of IT & Telecom, Dr. Umar Saif, has revealed plans for the expansion of Pakistan’s IT exports in the Middle East. The minister revealed that memorandums of understanding have been successfully inked with three Qatari companies, laying the groundwork for expected growth in IT exports to the region.

Dr. Umar Saif further disclosed that Pakistan is ready for the launch of 5G technology in July of the coming year. Action is already underway on the allocation of the 300 MHz spectrum for 5G, with efforts being made to address concerns raised by telecommunication companies regarding the implementation of 5G.

To facilitate the 5G transition, a telecommunication tribunal is set to be established within three weeks, accompanied by the formation of an action advisory committee specifically dedicated to 5G matters.

The minister also announced plans to hire a consultant to guide and oversee the strategic initiatives related to 5G.

Dr. Umar Saif emphasized the importance of women’s participation in decision-making processes, emphasizing the need for equal opportunities for women in the business sector.

The government has introduced various schemes to empower women, supporting their active involvement in various industries.

During the ceremony, officials from the World Bank Group highlighted measures taken to shape a future-friendly environment and increase capital assistance for women in business.

Dr. Umar Saif expressed optimism about the country’s development path, stressing that empowering rural woman is crucial for advancing national progress.

With the proactive initiatives announced by the Caretaker IT Minister, Pakistan looks poised to make significant strides in the fields of IT exports, technological advancement, and the empowerment of women in the business landscape.

The collaborations with Qatari companies and the awaiting launch of 5G signify a transformative period for Pakistan’s IT and telecom sectors.
