Pakistani Sports Presenter Zainab Abbas from India During World Cup

Famous sports presenter Zainab Abbas faced an unexpected turn of events when she was deported from India while on assignment to cover the prestigious ICC World Cup. The cause for her deportation hinges on allegations of derogatory statements made about India and the Hindu religion on her social media accounts. These allegations were raised by an Indian lawyer who subsequently filed a formal complaint against her.

Zainab Abbas staunchly denies these allegations, asserting that she has been unjustly singled out. Some sources have even suggested that the International Cricket Council (ICC) found itself unable to intervene in her deportation due to concerns related to what they perceive as “Indian propaganda.”

Supporters and associates of Zainab contend that the tweets at the heart of this controversy were unrelated to her professional role as a sports presenter, and therefore, her deportation from India is disproportionate. As of now, the ICC has refrained from making an official statement on the matter.

It is crucial to note that the complaint against Zainab Abbas hinges on social media posts dating back several years, which have resurfaced and are alleged to contain content considered “anti-Hindu” in nature. This situation carries substantial weight, given that Zainab Abbas had been designated by the ICC as the official presenter for the ICC Cricket World Cup. Presently, she is situated in Dubai, awaiting further developments.
