Led by the dynamic Nida Dar, the Pakistan women’s cricket team is ready to replicate the T20I heroics as they face off against the New Zealand women’s team in the upcoming three-match ODI series at the John Davies Oval in Queenstown.

The ODI series, slated as part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, holds significant importance for both teams. Currently positioned fifth with 14 points from 15 matches in the championship, Pakistan is determined to maintain their momentum, having recently secured a historic T20I series win against New Zealand.

The head-to-head record leans in favor of the hosts, with New Zealand winning on 13 out of 14 occasions. However, Pakistan’s lone victory in Sharjah in 2017, where Sana Mir’s all-round brilliance earned her the player of the match title, adds a layer of optimism for the visitors.

Reflecting on the team’s recent success, Pakistan Women’s batting coach Taufeeq Umar expressed pride in the players’ hard work and dedication. He highlighted the batters’ maturity and adaptability in the T20Is and emphasized the importance of carrying that momentum into the upcoming ODI series.

Umar acknowledged the unique challenges posed by the New Zealand conditions but conveyed confidence in the team’s preparedness.

The experience gained in the T20Is, coupled with the positive intent displayed by the batters, positions Pakistan well for the ODI challenge.

The three-match ODI series is scheduled with matches on December 13, 15, and 18 in Queenstown and Christchurch, respectively.

As Pakistan Women brace themselves for the upcoming contests, the series holds the promise of further joining their growing standing in international women’s cricket.

The squad, led by captain Nida Dar, includes:

Aliya Riaz, Bismah Maroof, Diana Baig, Fatima Sana, Ghulam Fatima, Muneeba Ali (wk), Najiha Alvi (wk), Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Omaima Sohail, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.

As the team strives for excellence, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate another chapter in the thrilling journey of Pakistan Women’s Cricket.
